I Solemnly Swear I'm Up to No Good

I think that the day that you realize that you have a list of favorite words is the day you officially become a nerd....a few standouts for me are:
Vindictive
Serendipity
Commiserate
Plethora
Panacea

There are heaps more but my brain is not doing it at the moment.

So yesterday, my day off, I spent a few hours walking around the Toowong Cemetery.... the place is HUGE and just when you think that you have seen it all, you reach the top of the hill and see that the place soldiers on even further. The whole experience was sad, yet, interesting. One tomb stone said that the woman had 51 great grand kids...woah. I was impressed. Some had simple stones, some were more elabrate, and some so massive that they seemed to touch the sky. Some had statues of angels and praying young girls. There were even a few that resembled small temples. I think that the oldest stone that I found was from 1888. Very sad was some of the year differences between husbands and wives....30...even 40 years difference in date of death. I wonder what it's like to wait that long....and if I will have to. It's sad to think that you have to go so long without the one that you love. It's been three years and I still question wether or not I will be lucky enough to connect with someone that way again. The worst was one stone where the wife was buried and the other half of the stone, clearly waiting for a mate, was empty....too much time had passed for them to still be waiting....what happened? Where are they? Why didn't they get buried by their loved ones side?
The cematary, for being so well known and massive, is not well looked after. Some tombs are caved in (looking in was so scary, not knowing what you night see...), some have broken stone and smashed statues. Others have fallen over and even more with words that are washed and warn. It's a strange feeling, and just so quiet there, aside from the birds that bathe in the puddles that had formed from the previous day's rain. Oblivious to where they are and what the grounds they inhabit hold. I didn't get quite the photos I'd hoped, so I'll be back.
